Tasting Notes
In the glass, Monte Bello 2018 shows a deep dark ruby color that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with aromas of ripe plum, blackberry, espresso, black truffle, anise, crushed stone, and finely judged oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and commanding, yet remarkably elegant and balanced. Dark fruit leads the way, supported by savory, mineral, and spice-driven notes, while the low alcohol and precise structure give it a poised, almost effortless feel. This is a wine built for the long haul and should develop beautifully over many years.

Production
Monte Bello comes from the Santa Cruz Mountains in California, where the elevated vineyard sites and cool-climate influence help preserve freshness and structure in the fruit. The wine is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and other traditional Bordeaux varieties, harvested for full ripeness and complexity. It is matured for 17 months in 100% new, air-dried oak barrels, a vinification choice that adds depth, polish, and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for premium beef dishes, lamb, venison, truffle risotto, and hearty mushroom-based recipes. Serve it at 16–18°C for the best expression of its aroma and structure. Decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to help the wine open up and reveal its full range of complexity.
