Ridge Vineyards’ Lytton Springs 2019 is a benchmark California red from the historic Dry Creek Valley, showing exactly why this site has been celebrated for decades. Crafted in Ridge’s signature balanced, old-school style, it brings together power, precision, and exceptional depth in a format made for sharing.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a very dark, almost inky color that hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe blackberry, blood orange, pepper, liquorice, tobacco leaf, and dried flowers coming through in waves. On the palate, it is full-bodied and generously textured, with the fruit, spice, and earthy nuances echoing the aromas beautifully. Zinfandel provides the core of the wine, while Carignan and Petite Sirah add structure, lift, and depth. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should develop even more complexity over the coming years.

Production
Lytton Springs Vineyard sits in Dry Creek Valley, one of California’s most respected zones for Zinfandel and field-blend reds. The fruit is sustainably farmed and destemmed before fermentation, then matured in American oak barrels, 10% of which were new, with the remainder between one and four years old.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for rich, savory dishes such as grilled beef, braised short ribs, barbecue, lamb, or hearty mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for an hour or so to let the wine fully open, especially in this double magnum format.
