Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark color with a violet hue. The nose is expressive and layered, opening with blueberry, cassis, licorice, cola, and a gentle sweetness from the oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and polished, with flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry, freshly roasted coffee beans, pencil lead, and sweet tobacco, all carried by a refined structure and impressive balance. While beautifully enjoyable now, it should also continue to develop gracefully over the next several years. The wine’s elegance and concentration give it both immediate appeal and cellar-worthy depth, especially in magnum format, which can encourage slower evolution and greater finesse over time.

Production
The fruit comes from Monte Bello Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, one of California’s most celebrated Cabernet sites, with this cuvée sourced from younger vines than the estate’s famed Monte Bello bottling. The blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. All clusters are fully destemmed before fermentation, and the wine then matures for 20 months in American oak barrels, a little over half of them new, adding subtle sweetness, spice, and texture.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, roast beef, or hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for one to two hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
