Ricasoli 1141 Casalferro is a polished 100% Merlot from Tuscany that captures the depth and prestige of one of Chianti Classico’s most historic names. Crafted by the estate most closely associated with the region’s identity, it combines ripe fruit, savory spice, and refined oak influence in a style that feels both powerful and elegant.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows an intense, brilliant ruby-red colour. The nose is layered and expressive, with balsamic and spicy aromas leading the way, followed by notes of cocoa, pepper, liquorice, cinnamon, and ripe red fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and smooth, balancing generous red-fruit character with warming spice and the sweet, polished tannins from oak ageing. Its structure suggests very good ageing potential, allowing the wine’s complexity to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
Made from 100% Merlot and produced in Toscana IGT, Casalferro reflects Tuscany’s warm, expressive terroir while retaining the finesse expected from Ricasoli 1141. The grapes undergo temperature-controlled fermentation at 24–27°C, with 14–18 days of skin maceration to build colour, texture, and aromatic depth. The wine is then matured for 18 months in oak barriques and tonneaux, adding complexity, spice, and supple tannins.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled or roasted red meats, game, braised dishes, and rich mushroom-based recipes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for about 1 hour if enjoyed young to allow the aromas and oak-spiced flavours to open fully.
