Rhys Alesia Anderson Valley Chardonnay 2018 is a beautifully precise California Chardonnay that combines richness with striking freshness and mineral drive. Made from estate fruit in Anderson Valley, it reflects Rhys Vineyards’ unwavering focus on terroir, meticulous farming, and Burgundian elegance in a distinctly Californian setting.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, polished profile with aromas of ripe citrus, apple, pear, passion fruit, white flowers, and a subtle touch of vanilla. Robert Parker also notes layers of Bosc pear, red apple, stone, honeycomb, floral nuance, and a hint of baker’s yeast, all adding complexity and finesse. The palate is full-flavored yet focused, with generous fruit, tangy acidity, and a long, mineral finish. It has the energy and balance to drink beautifully now, while still offering several years of graceful development.

Production
The fruit comes from Rhys’ own vineyards in Mendocino’s Anderson Valley, with younger vines now supplying the Alesia bottling. Farming is carried out according to organic and biodynamic principles, and the grapes are harvested and sorted by hand. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels under the direction of winemaker Jeff Brinkman, followed by aging in stainless steel to preserve freshness and clarity.

Food & Serving
This Chardonnay pairs especially well with roast chicken, grilled salmon, lobster, shellfish, creamy pasta dishes, and vegetable risotto. Serve it lightly chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help open up its aromatic complexity.
