Tasting Notes
In the glass, Clos Mogador 2022 shows a deep, concentrated red profile with an inviting, polished look. The nose is distinctly Mediterranean, opening with dry hay and straw, layered with the region’s signature wet slate, wild herbs, and a subtle earthy depth. The palate is round and serious, with very fine chalky tannins, integrated alcohol, and a dry, harmonious finish. Rather than power or overt richness, the wine leans toward balance and elegance, with a calm, composed character. It has excellent aging potential and should develop beautifully over the coming years.

Production
Produced in Priorat, within Catalonia, Clos Mogador 2022 comes from a single vineyard and was crafted from a blend dominated by Garnacha and Cariñena, with smaller amounts of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Around 40% whole clusters were used in fermentation, and the wine matured for roughly 20 months in large 2,000- and 2,500-liter oak foudres, with some parcels finishing in concrete to preserve freshness and limit oak influence. The move away from barriques reflects the estate’s evolving style toward larger vessels and a more transparent expression of terroir.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for rich Mediterranean dishes such as lamb, roast game, grilled beef, or slow-cooked stews, as well as mature hard cheeses and dishes with herbs, olives, or earthy mushrooms. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to let the wine fully open and show its layered aromatics.
