Why shop with us?
Raphäelle Guyot’s Calliope 2024 is a beautifully fresh Burgundy Chardonnay, drawn from two carefully selected parcels near Mâcon and in north Beaujolais. Made in a restrained, terroir-focused style with direct pressing and gentle oak ageing, it offers an elegant balance of purity, texture and subtle complexity.
Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, with a bright, luminous appearance that hints at its youthful freshness. The nose is delicate and inviting, showing white flowers, crisp orchard fruit, citrus peel and a light touch of vanilla and toasted wood from six months in barrel.
On the palate, it is clean and well-defined, with lively acidity, ripe stone-fruit notes and a supple, creamy texture. The oak remains discreet, adding roundness rather than weight, while the finish is fresh and mineral. Enjoyable now for its vibrant fruit and finesse, it should also hold nicely over the next few years as the wine gains a little more breadth and depth.
Production
This cuvée comes from a blend of two parcels located near Mâcon and in the north of Beaujolais, two areas known for producing expressive Chardonnay with freshness and shape. The grapes are direct-pressed, fermented in tank to preserve precision, then matured for six months in oak barrels before a light filtration. The result is a wine that keeps the clarity of the fruit while adding just enough texture and seasoning from wood.
Food & Serving
Ideal with roast chicken, grilled fish, creamy pasta dishes, seafood risotto or mild washed-rind cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 10–12°C, and there is no need to decant; simply open and enjoy, though a short rest in the glass can help reveal its aromatics.
Producer
Raphäelle Guyot is part of a new generation of Burgundy producers focused on crafting wines with clarity, balance and a strong sense of place. By working with parcels in respected Chardonnay-growing areas and using thoughtful, minimally intrusive winemaking, the producer highlights the elegance of the region while giving each cuvée a modern, refined touch.
