Quinta Santa Eufemia 10 Years White is a beautifully aged white port from the Douro, offering a rare combination of freshness, depth, and elegance. Made from traditional local white grapes and matured for a full decade in oak casks, it shows the kind of complexity that has made aged white port one of Portugal’s most distinctive specialties.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a warm golden hue with lovely amber reflections from its long cask aging. The nose is expressive and layered, with notes of apricot kernel, yellow flowers, and bright citrus, all wrapped in gentle toasted nuances from the wood. On the palate, it is intense and well balanced, combining ripe fruit, lively acidity, and a refined sweetness that carries through to a long, satisfying finish. The oak aging brings subtle roasted and nutty tones, while the wine’s freshness keeps it vibrant. It has excellent complexity now, but its structure suggests it will continue to hold well for years.

Production
Produced from hand-harvested grapes from old vineyards in the Douro, this white port is made from a traditional field blend dominated by Malvasia Fina, Moscatel Galego, and Rabigato. Fermentation takes place in granite lagares, after which grape spirit is added to preserve the natural sweetness and lift the alcohol to just under 20%. The wine then matures for 10 years in 550-liter port casks, allowing it to gain richness, texture, and its characteristic oxidative complexity.

Food & Serving
This wine is an excellent match for most desserts, especially fruit tarts, crème brûlée, almond pastries, and desserts with caramel or citrus elements. It can also pair beautifully with blue cheese or served lightly chilled as a contemplative after-dinner wine. Serve at around 10–12°C; decanting is not usually necessary, though a short aeration can help open the aromas if the bottle has been stored for a long time.
