Quilceda Creek CVR Red 2015

Quilceda Creek CVR Red 2015 is a powerful, polished Washington Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the estate’s uncompromising commitment to precision and quality. The CVR name stands for both “C’est Vin Rouge” and “Columbia Valley Red,” a fitting nod to its Bordeaux-inspired style and Columbia Valley roots.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this is a deeply coloured red with excellent concentration and a refined, inviting presence. The nose opens with dark berries, ripe blackcurrant, and subtle mineral notes, lifted by a touch of French oak spice and a sense of freshness that keeps everything in balance. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and layered, showing generous flavours of blackberry, cassis, and berry compote, supported by firm structure and a long, persistent finish. It offers immediate pleasure thanks to its fruit intensity, but also has the depth and backbone to evolve beautifully with further cellaring.

Production
Made from Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from some of Columbia Valley’s most respected vineyards, the wine reflects Washington’s warm days, cool nights, and well-drained soils that help develop ripe fruit with freshness and structure. After harvest, the wine is aged for 20 months in 100% French oak barrels, adding complexity, texture, and subtle savoury nuance while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for robust dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast beef, lamb, venison, or slow-braised short ribs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open fully and soften its tannins.
