Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Barbaresco Riserva shows the lifted transparency and classic garnet tones expected of Nebbiolo, with a polished, refined feel. The nose leans toward ripe red and purple fruits, backed by fresh floral accents, subtle spice, and the kind of savory nuance that adds complexity and depth. On the palate, Ovello 2021 is fuller and more structured than some more delicate expressions, yet it stays direct, focused, and bright. Ripe fruit richness is balanced by lively freshness, giving the wine both power and elegance. It already shows impressive harmony, but its structure suggests it will continue to evolve beautifully with cellar time.

Production
Ovello is one of Barbaresco’s most distinctive vineyards, known for producing Nebbiolo with both concentration and finesse. The 2021 wine was fermented in stainless steel to preserve freshness and aromatic precision, then aged in large oak botti, a traditional élevage that supports the wine without overshadowing its site-driven character. Production was limited to 19,400 bottles and 2,000 magnums.

Food & Serving
This Riserva is a natural match for rich Piedmontese dishes such as braised beef, agnolotti del plin, truffle risotto, and roasted game. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses and slow-cooked mushroom dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully unwind.
