Tasting Notes

Production
The Ovello cru, located on the northern side of Barbaresco, is known for its cooler exposition, compact calcareous-clay soils and steady breezes that help Nebbiolo ripen slowly while preserving acidity and aromatic detail. Produttori del Barbaresco harvests the Nebbiolo grapes by hand, parcel by parcel, selecting only the best fruit for the Riserva bottlings. In the cellar, the wine is vinified traditionally: fermentation in stainless steel with extended maceration on the skins to extract structure and nuance, followed by long maturation in large Slavonian oak botti. This gentle, old-school approach allows the character of Ovello’s terroir and the 2017 vintage to speak clearly, without excessive oak influence.
