Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, polished clarity with layers of mature citrus, white flowers, and a subtle smoky-mineral edge. With air, nuances of chalk, honey, and wet stone emerge, adding depth and complexity to the wine’s aromatic profile. The palate is concentrated and structured, with vivid acidity carrying flavors of ripe lemon, orchard fruit, and a distinct saline finish. It is already beautifully expressive, yet the wine has the concentration and backbone to age gracefully for many years, likely developing even greater nuance over the next decades.

Production
The wine comes from the steep Scharlachberg vineyards in Bingen, where quartz-rich soils and red slate create a terroir of power, finesse, and pronounced minerality. After spontaneous fermentation, the wine is matured in stainless steel to preserve freshness, followed by time on the lees to build texture and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile but serious Riesling that pairs beautifully with shellfish, oysters, grilled sole, sushi, roast chicken, or dishes with delicate cream sauces and subtle spice. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help reveal its full aromatic detail.
