Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep, dense ruby-purple color that hints at its concentration. The bouquet opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar and graphite, layered with violet, tobacco leaf, crushed stone and subtle earthy spice. On the palate, expect a full-bodied wine with firm but polished tannins, vibrant freshness and impressive structure. The fruit is dark and pure, supported by mineral tension and a long, savory finish. While already impressive, it has the balance and concentration to age beautifully for many years, gaining complexity over time.

Production
Pontet-Canet is based in the gravelly soils of Pauillac, where excellent drainage and maritime influence help the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant style thrive. The estate is known for biodynamic farming, horse plowing in some parcels, and a careful, parcel-by-parcel harvest to preserve optimal ripeness and vineyard expression. Vinification is carried out with great precision, often combining traditional methods with modern cellar control to capture both power and finesse.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic Bordeaux fare such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, ribeye, duck breast, or game dishes with earthy sauces. It also works well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to open up.
