Pontet-Canet 2014 is a standout Pauillac that combines the depth and structure expected from a Fifth Growth with the freshness and refinement of a strong vintage. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep garnet-purple color with excellent concentration. The nose opens with blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, cedar, violet, and subtle hints of tobacco and spice, developing beautifully with time in the glass. On the palate, it is full-bodied and tightly structured, with ripe dark fruit framed by firm yet polished tannins, lively acidity, and a mineral backbone. The finish is long and layered, showing great balance and the ability to evolve gracefully over many years. While already approachable with decanting, it has the structure to age well for 15–25 years or more.

Production
Pontet-Canet comes from gravelly Pauillac soils, where the vineyard benefits from excellent drainage and the cooling influence of the nearby Gironde estuary. The estate is farmed biodynamically, with a strong emphasis on soil health and vineyard vitality, allowing the fruit to express the character of the site as naturally as possible. Vinification is handled with care to preserve purity and structure, typically combining traditional Bordeaux methods with modern precision in the cellar.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with classic dishes such as roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, or game, as well as mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
