Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby to garnet color with youthful intensity. The nose is refined and expressive, combining blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, tobacco leaf, and subtle floral and mineral notes. On the palate, expect a structured yet polished wine with firm tannins, fresh acidity, and a core of dark fruit framed by smoke, spice, and earthy complexity. The 2011 vintage is generally approachable earlier than more muscular years, but it still has the balance and backbone to continue developing in bottle for several more years.

Production
Pontet-Canet is located in the heart of Pauillac on gravel-rich soils that naturally favor Cabernet Sauvignon, helping the wine develop concentration, freshness, and firm structure. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work and a biodynamic approach, with hand harvesting and careful sorting to preserve fruit purity. Vinification is carried out with a focus on gentle extraction and preserving terroir expression, followed by élevage in oak to bring balance, texture, and aromatic complexity without overpowering the wine’s natural character.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game dishes, and rich mushroom-based recipes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now to help the wine open up and soften its tannins.
