Podere Il Carnasciale Carnasciale Botte Grande Late Release 2022

Podere Il Carnasciale’s Carnasciale Botte Grande Late Release 2022 is a rare Tuscan red made from Caberlot, the estate’s unique and closely guarded grape variety. Produced in very limited quantities and released after extended maturation, it offers a distinctive alternative to conventional Sangiovese-based Tuscan wines, combining the structure of Cabernet Franc with the generosity of Merlot.

Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, with the concentration and depth expected from a small-production, cellar-aged Tuscan red. The nose is likely to develop layered aromas of ripe dark berries, black cherry, violets, Mediterranean herbs and subtle spice, with further complexity from time in wood and bottle. On the palate, Caberlot typically shows a firm yet refined structure, combining dark-fruited richness with fresh acidity, savoury notes and polished tannins. The late release makes this a wine to approach for its evolving character, and it should continue to develop in bottle over the medium to long term when properly stored.

Production
Caberlot is a rare grape variety associated almost exclusively with Podere Il Carnasciale and is understood to combine characteristics of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The estate’s low-yielding vines and Tuscan hillside setting provide the concentration and natural freshness that define the wine. The Botte Grande cuvée is matured in a large wooden cask, allowing the wine to evolve gradually while preserving the character of the fruit; specific harvesting and vinification details for the 2022 vintage are not provided.

Food & Serving
