Description

Ployez Jacquemart Champagne Extra Brut Rosé is a finely crafted grower Champagne that balances delicacy, structure, and pure, focused fruit. Made in small quantities by a family-run house in the heart of the Champagne region, it offers a drier, more gastronomic style than many mainstream rosés. This cuvée highlights the finesse of traditional Champagne methods, with an emphasis on elegance, precision, and terroir expression.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Extra Brut Rosé shows a luminous, pale salmon-pink hue with copper highlights and a fine, persistent bead. On the nose, it opens with aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants, and raspberry coulis, layered with notes of blood orange zest, rose petals, hints of brioche, and a subtle chalky minerality. The palate is dry, crisp, and beautifully linear, with red berry fruit at the core supported by citrus, pomegranate, and a touch of white peach. A firm spine of acidity and very fine mousse deliver both tension and elegance, while subtle pastry and nut nuances add depth without ever feeling heavy. The finish is long, clean, and saline, making it as suitable for the table as it is for an aperitif. Enjoy now for its vibrant fruit, but it has the structure to develop additional complexity over the next 3–5 years under proper cellaring conditions.

Production
Sourced from carefully selected vineyard parcels in the Champagne region of France, this rosé reflects a classic cool-climate, chalk-rich terroir that gives the wine its finesse and minerality. Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness to preserve freshness and aromatic precision. Vinification follows traditional Champagne methods: gentle pressing, fermentation in temperature-controlled vessels, and secondary fermentation in bottle. The rosé character is typically achieved by blending a portion of still red wine from Pinot-based parcels into the base wine, lending color and delicate red-fruited aromatics. Extended aging on the lees in bottle builds texture and complexity, while the Extra Brut dosage keeps the style refined, dry, and terroir-driven.

Food & Serving
This Extra Brut Rosé is highly versatile at the table, pairing beautifully with dishes such as tuna tartare, salmon sashimi, grilled prawns, seared scallops, or lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also complements charcuterie, young hard cheeses, and roasted poultry with herbs or cranberry accents. Serve well-chilled, ideally around 8–10°C (46–50°F), to highlight its freshness and fine mousse. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass is enough for it to open up; decanting is not necessary, but pouring into larger white wine glasses rather than flutes can enhance its aromatic complexity.

Producer
Ployez Jacquemart is a boutique, family-owned Champagne house founded in 1930 and based in Ludes, in the Montagne de Reims. Unlike many large houses, it operates very much in the spirit of a grower-producer, focusing on meticulous vineyard selection, careful hand-harvesting, and long aging times to craft Champagnes of finesse and authenticity. Over the years, Ployez Jacquemart has gained a quiet but devoted following among Champagne enthusiasts and sommeliers, known for its restrained, low-dosage style that lets the character of the fruit and chalky terroir shine. The estate’s commitment to quality over volume has secured its reputation as a connoisseur’s address in the Champagne region.
