Planeta Plumbago is a pure expression of Nero d'Avola from Sicily, showing the grape’s natural depth, warmth, and aromatic personality. Made by one of the island’s most respected producers, it combines ripe fruit, spice, and structure in a style that feels both generous and distinctly Mediterranean.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Plumbago shows a rich purple-violet colour that hints at its concentration and youth. The nose is marked by ripe plums and wild blackberries, layered with more complex notes of incense, jasmine, and black truffle. On the palate, it balances soft, seductive tannins with a firmer, more direct edge, giving the wine both charm and tension. The fruit is lush and expressive, but the savoury complexity keeps it from becoming too simple or heavy. Thanks to its structure and oak ageing, it should continue to evolve nicely over the next few years, developing even more earthy and spiced nuances.

Production
This organic Menfi DOC wine comes from Sicily, where the terroir gives Nero d'Avola its sun-ripened character and natural richness. The grapes are vinified with fermentation in stainless steel and 14 days of skin maceration at 25°C, helping preserve freshness while extracting colour, flavour, and tannin. It is then aged in third- and fourth-pass barriques and tonneaux, adding subtle texture and complexity without overpowering the varietal fruit.

Food & Serving
Plumbago is an excellent match for grilled meats, especially beef, lamb, or richly seasoned sausages. It also works well with roast game, aubergine-based dishes, and hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and decant for 30-60 minutes if possible to let the aromatic layers open up fully.
