Named after the historic 1614 eruption that nearly reached the vineyards of Sciara Nuova, it captures the tension, freshness, and volcanic energy that have made Etna one of Italy’s most exciting white-wine regions.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, luminous white-gold hue. The nose opens with ripe fruit, white flowers, green apple, wild honey, and a subtle menthol note, giving it a layered and very inviting aromatic profile. On the palate, it balances softness with vibrant tension, unfolding citrus peel, fine salinity, and a pronounced mineral backbone. The finish is long, precise, and intensely savory, with the structure and acidity to develop beautifully over time.

Production
The grapes come from the Etna zone between Feudo di Mezzo and the Sciara Nuova cru, where vineyards sit above 800 meters on black volcanic soils rich in sand and minerals. Grown using the Guyot system and shaped by the cool mountain climate, the vines produce fruit with remarkable freshness and tension. Harvest takes place in October, when the grapes are at optimal ripeness. After cooling and gentle pressing, the clarified must ferments in stainless steel at controlled temperature, followed by aging on fine lees with regular bâtonnage to build texture while preserving the variety’s delicate aromas.

Food & Serving
This wine is a natural match for shellfish, oysters, raw seafood, and seafood crudo, where its mineral edge and bright acidity can really shine. It is best served well chilled, around 8-10°C, and does not typically require decanting; a short moment in the glass is enough for the aromas to open.
