Pira Barolo Vignarionda is a powerful expression of 100% Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most admired crus, crafted by Pira Luigi in Serralunga d’Alba. Deeply rooted in family tradition since 1950, it combines intensity, structure, and the unmistakable elegance that has made Vignarionda one of Barolo’s most historic and coveted sites.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows the classic depth and concentration expected from great Barolo, with a dark ruby-garnet hue that hints at its structure and seriousness. The nose is rich and layered, opening with ripe cherry, blackberry, cocoa, coffee bean, liquorice, spice, and balsamic notes, alongside the kind of savory, macerated character that gives Nebbiolo its unmistakable personality. On the palate, it is fresh yet generous, with impressive power, firm tannins, and a long, precise finish. The wine has the depth and backbone to age beautifully, and it will gain even more complexity over time as the tannins soften and its aromatic profile evolves.

Production
The grapes come from Vignarionda in Serralunga d’Alba, one of Barolo’s most prized vineyard sites, where the combination of altitude, exposure, and limestone-rich soils helps produce wines of remarkable structure and longevity. Fermentation takes place in horizontal temperature-controlled tanks over 7–10 days, followed by 24 months of ageing in new French oak barriques, a regimen that adds polish and depth to the wine’s naturally firm Nebbiolo tannins.

Food & Serving
This is a Barolo best enjoyed with rich, flavorful dishes such as braised beef, truffle pasta, roasted game, lamb, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for a few hours is recommended to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
