Pico Maccario Barolo DOCG Riserva Vigna Rionda 2017 comes from one of Barolo’s most celebrated single vineyards in Serralunga d’Alba, a site long admired for producing wines of depth, power, and exceptional aging capacity. Hand-harvested and carefully selected, this Riserva reflects the classic identity of Barolo with traditional winemaking and extended maturation in oak.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby-red color with the kind of concentration that hints at its seriousness. The nose is complex and expressive, offering intense balsamic notes alongside ripe red fruit, with the structure and lift expected from a top Serralunga Barolo. On the palate, it is firm, intense, and full-bodied, with a strong backbone and layered structure. This is a wine built for patience and will benefit from several years of cellaring to fully раскры its potential, allowing the tannins and aromatics to integrate beautifully over time.

Production
The wine comes from Vigna Rionda, a prestigious single vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba, one of the most revered terroirs in Barolo for its structure and longevity. The grapes are harvested by hand and selected with care, followed by traditional vinification and a maceration period of at least 20 days. It is then aged for 24 months in oak barrels, contributing to its depth, grip, and refined complexity.

Food & Serving
This Barolo Riserva pairs wonderfully with rich dishes such as braised beef, game, truffle risotto, and mature cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for a few hours before serving to help open up its aromas and soften the tannins.
