Why shop with us?
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is one of Pauillac’s most admired names, known for combining the power of Bordeaux’s Left Bank with uncommon finesse and perfume. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, the estate has long stood out for its elegance, precision, and ability to age beautifully, with the 2022 vintage promising impressive depth and structure.
Tasting Notes
The 2022 shows the classic Pauillac profile: deep, dark color in the glass, with an expressive nose of blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, violet, and subtle cedar and spice. There is a lifted, refined aromatic quality that hints at the balance and freshness behind the wine’s concentration.
On the palate, Cabernet Sauvignon brings structure and cassis-driven intensity, while Merlot adds plushness and generosity, supported by Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot for complexity and length. Expect firm but polished tannins, layered dark fruit, mineral notes, and a long, precise finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should evolve beautifully over many years.
Production
Produced in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the blend reflects the gravelly soils and maritime climate that suit Cabernet Sauvignon особенно well, while Merlot and the supporting varieties add nuance and texture. The 2022 vintage was shaped by a warm, dry growing season, encouraging ripe fruit and concentrated flavors, with careful harvesting and meticulous cellar work helping preserve freshness and balance. Vinification is typically carried out with the aim of highlighting purity, precision, and the estate’s hallmark elegance.
Food & Serving
Best enjoyed with classic dishes that can match its structure, such as beef tenderloin, lamb, duck breast, roasted game, or truffle-infused dishes. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to खुल fully and soften its tannins.
Producer
Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is one of Pauillac’s historic estates, with a reputation for producing wines of refinement, fragrance, and longevity. As a classified second growth, it has helped define the elegance of Bordeaux’s Left Bank and remains one of the region’s most sought-after producers. The château has earned widespread acclaim for its consistent quality and distinctive style, often considered among the most graceful wines in Pauillac.
