Description

Pichon Comtesse de Lalande 2022 is one of Pauillac’s most admired classed growths, combining power, finesse, and remarkable aromatic precision. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé from Bordeaux’s Left Bank, it carries both historic pedigree and the modern elegance that has made the château a reference point for collectors worldwide.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is typically deep ruby with vibrant youthful intensity. The nose is layered and refined, opening with blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, and violet, followed by graphite, spice, and subtle tobacco notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet polished, with Cabernet Sauvignon providing structure and depth, Merlot adding richness and silkiness, and Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot contributing aromatic lift and complexity. Expect finely grained tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, nuanced finish. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should evolve beautifully over the next two decades or more.

Production
Sourced from the gravelly terroirs of Pauillac, the estate benefits from well-drained soils that are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and contribute to the wine’s hallmark structure and precision. The 2022 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot reflects careful parcel selection and a focus on balance and ripeness. Harvesting is typically done with strict sorting to ensure only the best fruit enters the cellar, followed by vinification designed to preserve purity, texture, and aromatic detail. The result is a wine that expresses both the character of the vintage and the château’s signature refinement.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C and, if possible, decant for 1–2 hours when young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck, game birds, and classic dishes with mushrooms or truffle, as well as mature hard cheeses.

Producer
Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is one of the great names of Pauillac, with a long history and a reputation for producing wines of elegance, perfume, and longevity. Classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate has long held an important place in Bordeaux and is widely respected for its distinctive style and consistency across top vintages.
