Why shop with us?
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande 2020 is a classically styled Pauillac from one of Bordeaux’s most admired estates, offering the precision of Cabernet Sauvignon with the plushness that has long set this château apart. Ranked as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, it combines power, elegance, and a deeply refined personality that makes it one of the standout names on the Left Bank.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is typically deep ruby in color, with a concentrated and polished appearance that hints at its structure. Aromatically, it is expected to show a layered bouquet of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, graphite, violets, and subtle spice, with the merest suggestion of tobacco and oak complexity.
On the palate, it should be both firm and graceful, with ripe dark fruit, fine tannins, and a long, mineral-driven finish. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot adds depth, texture, and aromatic lift, making this a wine built for cellaring; while approachable in its youth with aeration, it is likely to reward many years of aging.
Production
Produced in Pauillac, one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious communes, this wine reflects the gravelly Left Bank terroir that favors Cabernet Sauvignon-driven blends. The vineyard’s well-drained soils and maritime climate help ensure slow, even ripening, while the final cuvée is shaped by careful parcel selection and traditional Bordeaux vinification, with aging in French oak to add structure, complexity, and polish.
Food & Serving
This is a natural match for classic dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, venison, or rich mushroom-based preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young, as this will help open the wine’s bouquet and soften its tannins.
