Description
Pichon Comtesse de Lalande 2010 is a classic Pauillac that captures the finesse and power the estate is known for. As a 2ème Grand Cru Classé, it combines depth, structure, and elegance in a way that has made it one of Bordeaux’s most admired wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby color with youthful garnet reflections. The nose is layered and expressive, with blackcurrant, cedar, graphite, violet, and subtle hints of spice, tobacco, and ripe plum.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and beautifully composed, with polished tannins, vibrant dark fruit, and the mineral edge that gives Pauillac its unmistakable character. The finish is long and refined, with excellent balance and the concentration to age gracefully for many years.
Production
Made in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine comes from gravelly soils that naturally favor Cabernet Sauvignon and help bring freshness, precision, and firmness to the blend. The 2010 vintage benefited from a long, balanced growing season, allowing for careful harvesting of fully ripe fruit and the creation of a wine with both power and remarkable definition. Vinification is carried out with a focus on preserving varietal character, structure, and aromatic complexity.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for classic dishes such as ribeye steak, lamb rack, roast beef, duck breast, or game with mushroom sauces. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young; older bottles may only need a brief decant.
Producer
Château Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is one of the standout names in Pauillac, with a history rooted in the great traditions of Bordeaux. Classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé in 1855, it has long been celebrated for producing wines of unusual elegance, balance, and aromatic precision. The estate is especially respected for its consistent quality and its ability to combine the classic power of Pauillac with a more supple, refined style.
