Pichon Baron 2022 is a powerful and finely structured Pauillac, sourced from one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious estates and classified as a 2ème Grand Cru Classé since 1855. Known for its deep concentration, classic Left Bank character, and impressive precision, it captures the dark-fruited, cedar-laced style that has made Pichon Baron one of the great names of the Médoc.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep ruby core with excellent opacity and youthful intensity. The nose is expected to open with blackcurrant, blackberry, graphite, pencil shavings, cedar, and subtle floral and smoky nuances. On the palate, it should be dense and structured, with layered dark fruit, firm but polished tannins, and a long mineral finish. While already impressive in youth, this is a wine built for patience and should develop beautifully over many years, gaining complexity, truffle, tobacco, and earthy notes with age.

Production
Pichon Baron’s vineyards sit on the gravelly soils of Pauillac, where excellent drainage and the tempering influence of the Gironde help Cabernet Sauvignon achieve full ripeness and refined tannic structure. The estate is known for meticulous vineyard work, careful parcel selection, and precision in harvest timing, followed by plot-by-plot vinification to preserve detail and balance.

Food & Serving
This is a natural match for lamb, beef Wellington, ribeye, duck breast, and game dishes, as well as hard aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.
