Picard Sancerre Blanc 2025 is a classic expression of Sancerre, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from carefully selected vineyards around Bué in the Loire Valley. It captures the region’s signature balance of freshness, precision, and mineral finesse, with the added distinction of being hand-harvested from one of Sancerre’s most respected family domaines, whose roots date back to 1750.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a pale golden color with green reflections, immediately suggesting brightness and energy. The nose is vivid and refined, with notes of citrus, lime, grapefruit, white flowers, gooseberry, fresh herbs, and a subtle flinty edge. The palate is dry, crisp, and elegant, driven by lively acidity, juicy citrus fruit, and a long mineral finish that speaks clearly of its limestone and flint terroir. The 2025 vintage highlights Sauvignon Blanc’s fresh, energetic side with excellent balance and poise. While already highly expressive now, it also has the structure to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
Domaine Jean-Paul Picard sources this wine from selected vineyards around Sancerre, where chalk, flint, and marl soils provide the tension, minerality, and aromatic clarity for which the appellation is famous. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness, with hand-harvesting used to preserve fruit quality and allow for careful selection in the vineyard. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with no oak aging, ensuring the wine remains pure, precise, and true to its terroir.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent food wine, particularly well suited to goat cheese, oysters, shellfish, grilled white fish, asparagus, and light salads with fresh herbs. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to bring out its citrus brightness and mineral drive. Decanting is not necessary, though a short time in the glass can help the aromatics open up beautifully.
