Description

Peyre Rose Marlene N°3 2013 is a sought-after Vin de France from one of the Languedoc’s most cult-followed producers. Known for its low-intervention style, long élevage, and remarkable ability to gain complexity in bottle, it’s a wine that appeals to collectors and lovers of serious southern French reds alike.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deep, youthful color with an almost mysterious intensity in the glass. The nose is typically layered and expressive, with dark berries, dried herbs, spice, earthy notes, and a savoury, floral edge that becomes more nuanced with air. On the palate, the wine is usually full-bodied and structured, with ripe dark fruit, Mediterranean garrigue, mineral drive, and firm but polished tannins. It has the kind of depth and balance that allows it to evolve beautifully over time, and the 2013 vintage should still have excellent aging potential for collectors who enjoy mature, complex reds.

Production
Produced in the Languedoc by Peyre Rose, the wine comes from vineyards shaped by a warm Mediterranean climate, cooling influences, and limestone and rocky soils that help preserve freshness and concentration. Grapes are typically harvested by hand, with vinification carried out in a highly meticulous, low-intervention manner, followed by extended ageing that gives the wine its signature depth and complexity.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that shines with rich, flavourful dishes such as lamb, game, slow-braised beef, duck, or grilled meats with herbs. It also pairs well with mature hard cheeses and Mediterranean dishes featuring olives, rosemary, and roasted vegetables. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended to allow the wine to open fully, especially if enjoyed in its youth.

Producer
Peyre Rose is one of the most respected names in the Languedoc, known for producing distinctive, age-worthy wines that have earned cult status among collectors. The estate gained recognition for its uncompromising quality, long maturation periods, and wines that combine power with finesse, making it a reference point for serious southern French red wine.
