Description
Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is the second wine of one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated estates, offering a refined glimpse into the Pauillac style at a more accessible level. The 2013 vintage brings together Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in a classic Left Bank blend shaped by the elegance and precision of Château Mouton Rothschild’s winemaking tradition.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Petit Mouton 2013 typically shows a deep ruby hue with a youthful, polished edge. The nose leans toward blackcurrant, plum, cedar, pencil shavings, and subtle tobacco notes, with the Cabernet Sauvignon bringing structure and lift.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and finely framed, with ripe dark fruit, свежий? No. with dark berry fruit, savoury oak, and a graphite-like mineral character. The vintage’s cooler profile lends freshness and balance rather than sheer power, while fine tannins and bright acidity suggest enjoyable drinking now with the potential to evolve gracefully over the next several years.
Production
Sourced from vineyards in Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine reflects the gravelly soils and maritime climate that favor Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are typically harvested by hand and selected carefully before vinification, with the final blend crafted to preserve the house style of structure, finesse, and aromatic complexity.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, or mushroom-based dishes, as well as hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C and consider decanting for about 1 hour if drinking young, to let the wine open fully and show its layered aromatics.
