Peter Michael L’Après-Midi Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is a beautifully composed California white inspired by the finest dry white Bordeaux. Made from 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sémillon, it’s a vibrant, elegant wine designed for those easy, sunlit afternoon moments its name suggests.

Tasting Notes
Pale and luminous in the glass, it opens with an aromatic lift of white pear, elderflower, sea buckthorn, lemon, lime, acacia honey, and a touch of anise. The bouquet is fresh yet layered, giving the wine both brightness and depth. On the palate, it is textured and precise, repeating many of the aromas while adding mirabelle plum, fresh almonds, and guava. The style is intense and refreshing, with good balance and enough structure to suggest further development over the next year or so.

Production
The grapes come from Peter Michael’s own Les Pavots vineyard in California, where the fruit is harvested by hand. Whole clusters are pressed, and after fermentation in barrels, the wine spends 9 months on the lees, which adds complexity and a creamy, polished feel to its naturally fresh profile.

Food & Serving
Ideal with oysters, grilled fish, scallops, roast chicken, goat cheese, or lightly creamy vegetable dishes. Serve chilled, around 8–10°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a short time in the glass will help it open up beautifully.
