Description

Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque 2012 Magnum is one of Champagne’s most celebrated prestige cuvées, admired for its floral elegance, crystalline freshness, and unmistakable house style. Crafted around Grand Cru Chardonnay from Cramant and Avize and rounded out with Pinot Noir and a touch of Pinot Meunier, it has long been a favorite of style icons and collectors alike.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a brilliant golden hue with remarkable clarity and subtle glints of apple-green. The nose is delicately expressive, unfolding with white flowers, peach, pear, and lemon, all lifted by a refined mineral edge. The palate is fresh, precise, and beautifully balanced, with Chardonnay taking the lead in a silky, elegant structure while Pinot Noir adds depth and Pinot Meunier brings harmony. It is complex yet restrained, with excellent aging potential thanks to the 2012 vintage and its time on lees, and will continue to gain richness over the coming years.

Production
This cuvée is built around fruit from prized Grand Cru villages in Champagne, especially Cramant and Avize, where chalky soils and a cool climate help preserve finesse, purity, and tension. The grapes are carefully selected and blended in the classic Perrier-Jouët style, emphasizing elegance over power, with 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir, and 5% Pinot Meunier. It matures for at least six years before release, allowing the wine to develop depth, texture, and aromatic complexity.

Food & Serving
Best served at around 12°C, this Champagne pairs beautifully with richer seafood, shellfish, poultry, and refined dishes with a subtle sweet-savoury character. It is particularly well suited to peaches, turnips, or more luxurious plates where freshness and delicacy are important. Decanting is generally not recommended; instead, serve gently chilled in a tulip-shaped Champagne glass to preserve its fine mousse and aromatic detail.

Producer
Champagne Perrier-Jouët is one of the great historic houses of the region, founded in 1811 and renowned for its floral, refined, and distinctive style. The maison is especially associated with Chardonnay-driven elegance from top Champagne vineyards and has earned an enduring reputation for producing some of the region’s most iconic prestige cuvées. Its Belle Époque bottling, adorned with Emile Gallé’s famous anemone design from 1902, remains a symbol of artistry and prestige in Champagne.
