Description
Château Palmer 2019 is a standout Margaux from one of the Left Bank’s most admired estates, combining finesse, depth, and remarkable aromatic precision. As a 3ème Grand Cru Classé, it reflects both the pedigree of Bordeaux’s historic classification and the estate’s reputation for producing wines with exceptional elegance and longevity.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep, saturated ruby color with impressive concentration. The nose is expressive and layered, offering dark berries, plum, violets, cedar, graphite, and subtle spice, with the 2019 vintage bringing extra freshness and lift.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully textured and refined, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing structure, Merlot adding richness and plushness, and Petit Verdot contributing color, spice, and complexity. It finishes long and polished, with the kind of balance that suggests excellent aging potential over the next two decades or more.
Production
Produced in Margaux on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, the wine comes from gravelly terroirs that encourage excellent drainage and help the vines develop concentration and aromatic precision. The blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot is harvested with careful selection, then vinified to preserve freshness, purity, and the estate’s signature silky tannins.
Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with lamb, duck breast, ribeye, roast beef, or game dishes, as well as earthy mushroom-based plates and aged hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, to allow the wine to fully open up.
Producer
Château Palmer is one of the most respected names in Margaux, with a history that dates back to the early 19th century and a long-standing reputation for producing wines of elegance and distinction. Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, the estate is widely regarded as punching far above its official ranking and has earned a cult following among Bordeaux lovers worldwide.
