Pacher Hof Huber Valle Isarco Sylvaner Alte Reben Riserva 2023 is a refined, terroir-driven white wine from Alto Adige’s high-altitude Isarco Valley. Made from Sylvaner Verde vines over 40 years old, it combines elegant orchard-fruit aromas with impressive depth, freshness and a distinctive mineral character. The wine reflects the Huber family’s centuries-old winemaking tradition, which dates back to 1142.

Tasting Notes
Bright yellow in colour, this Sylvaner opens with delicate aromas of ripe peach, pear and melon, complemented by subtle spicy nuances from its mountain-grown origin. On the palate, it is dry, rounded and persistent, with concentrated fruit, vibrant freshness and a pronounced mineral finish. Its structure and balance allow it to develop gracefully in bottle over the next several years, while remaining approachable in its youth.

Production
The grapes come from the Varna area near Novacella in the Valle Isarco, where Guyot-trained vines grow at 620–700 metres above sea level in sandy, clay-rich moraine soils. The warm microclimate and marked day-to-night temperature variations encourage even ripening while preserving the variety’s aromatic precision and natural acidity. Produced according to organic and sustainable principles, the wine is made from carefully selected grapes harvested by hand in mid-October, then matured for eight months in oak casks to add texture and complexity without overshadowing its freshness or mineral identity.

Food & Serving
This versatile white is an excellent match for shellfish, delicate fish such as turbot and sea bass, and refined soft or semi-hard cheeses. Serve lightly chilled at around 10–12°C to highlight its balance and aromatic detail. Decanting is not essential, although a brief period of aeration in the glass or a short decant can help reveal the wine’s depth and subtle oak influence.
