Orin Swift Cellars’ Mannequin 2022 is a richly textured California white that captures Dave Phinney’s signature mix of creativity and precision. Built around Chardonnay and lifted by small additions of aromatic varieties, it offers a modern, expressive style shaped by cool-climate fruit and careful oak influence. Tasting Notes
In the glass, Mannequin 2022 shows a polished, luminous golden hue. The nose opens with layers of ripe orchard fruit, citrus blossom, white peach, vanilla, toasted almond, and subtle exotic spice, with the aromatic grapes adding a fresh floral edge. On the palate, it is broad and supple yet balanced by vibrant acidity, giving the wine a juicy, energetic feel. Flavors of stone fruit, ripe pear, citrus oil, cream, and gentle oak spice lead to a long, satisfying finish. It is drinking beautifully now and should hold well over the next few years, gaining extra complexity with short-term cellaring.

Production
This cuvée draws fruit from a range of California AVAs, including cool and respected sites such as Russian River Valley and Atlas Peak, chosen to preserve freshness and structure. The blend is led by Chardonnay with small amounts of aromatic varieties that enhance lift and nuance. After fermentation, the wine spends 7 months in French oak, including 56% new barrels, adding texture, depth, and a refined layer of vanilla and spice.

Food & Serving
Mannequin 2022 pairs especially well with roasted chicken, lobster, creamy pasta dishes, seared scallops, sushi, and rich vegetarian fare such as mushroom risotto. Serve chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, to showcase both its freshness and breadth. Decanting is not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help the aromatics open further.
