Opus One 2021

Opus One 2021 is one of Napa Valley’s most iconic red wines, born from the legendary partnership between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Crafted in a refined Bordeaux-inspired style and sourced from the estate’s prized Oakville vineyards, it combines prestige, precision, and remarkable depth in every glass.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Opus One 2021 shows a deep, насыщенный ruby-purple hue that hints at its concentration and structure. The bouquet opens with ripe black cherry, cassis, and dark berry fruit, layered with subtle notes of cocoa, sweet spice, smoke, and a touch of vanilla from French oak aging. The palate is rich, powerful, and beautifully composed, with velvety tannins and a lively line of acidity that keeps the wine fresh and focused. Flavors of black fruit, tobacco, spice, and a refined hint of oak lead into a long, persistent finish. While already impressive now, this vintage has excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve gracefully for up to 20 years.

Production
Opus One is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec, and Petit Verdot, all selected from the estate’s esteemed vineyards in Oakville, Napa Valley. The terroir offers a near-ideal balance of sun exposure, drainage, and moderating influences, allowing the fruit to ripen fully while preserving freshness and structure. After careful harvest and vinification, the wine is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels to build complexity and integrate its tannins.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for premium cuts of beef, lamb, venison, roasted duck, or dishes with truffle and wild mushroom accents. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if enjoyed young to allow the aromas and structure to open up.
