Description
Olivier Leflaive’s Bourgogne Rouge Cuvée Margot 2022 is a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir that puts pure red fruit front and center. Sourced from more than 20 parcels across the Côte d’Or and crafted with the precision this renowned Burgundian producer is known for, it offers an elegant, approachable taste of Burgundy with real depth and finesse.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, inviting ruby hue. The nose is fresh and lifted, with aromas of wild strawberries and raspberries, supported by a subtle layer of Burgundy earthiness and gentle spice.
The palate is lively, juicy, and very red-fruited, with a clean, vibrant finish that keeps the wine feeling light on its feet. It has enough structure to develop gracefully over the next few years, though it is already charming and accessible now.
Production
The grapes for Cuvée Margot come from over 20 carefully selected parcels in the Côte d’Or, reflecting the diversity and quality of Burgundy’s terroir. All fruit is harvested by hand, then meticulously sorted at the winery before being 100% destemmed. Before fermentation, the must undergoes a 15-day cold soak to enhance aroma, color, and texture, followed by 10 months of ageing, with 80% in oak barrels and 20% in neutral tanks.
Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for light meats such as roasted chicken, turkey, veal, or pork, as well as mushroom dishes and charcuterie. Serve slightly cool at around 15–16°C, and decanting is not necessary, though a short aeration can help open the wine if desired.
Producer
Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy’s most respected names, known for combining traditional winemaking with a modern, terroir-driven style. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, the house has built a strong reputation for producing wines of precision, balance, and regional character, and is widely regarded as a benchmark producer in the Côte de Beaune and beyond.
