Why shop with us?
Olivier Leflaive’s Auxey-Duresses 2022 is a refined Burgundy Chardonnay that combines freshness, structure, and clear terroir expression. Sourced from parcels closest to Meursault, it brings a more generous and layered style to this classic village appellation, with a touch of historical Burgundian elegance.
Tasting Notes
Pale gold in the glass, this wine opens with bright aromas of fresh apple, citrus peel, chalk, and a delicate toasted almond note. A subtle hint of fresh bread adds warmth and complexity, while the overall impression remains clean and focused.
On the palate, it shows a fine balance of ripe fruit, mineral tension, and a solid backbone that gives the wine impressive depth for its village level. The finish is persistent and textured, with enough concentration to suggest good short- to medium-term aging potential.
Production
The Chardonnay comes from parcels in Auxey-Duresses located nearest to Meursault, an area known for producing wines with both finesse and structure. The vines are more than 30 years old, contributing naturally balanced, healthy fruit. After pressing on arrival at the winery, fermentation takes place in stainless steel, followed by eight months of aging in oak barrels, including 20% new oak.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile white Burgundy that pairs beautifully with grilled large prawns, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes, and mature cheeses. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10-12°C, and consider brief decanting if you want to open up its mineral and nutty complexity.
Producer
Olivier Leflaive is one of Burgundy’s most respected names, known for crafting wines that highlight the character of each appellation while maintaining a polished, accessible style. Based in Puligny-Montrachet, the house has built a strong reputation for high-quality Chardonnay from across the Côte de Beaune, and is especially admired for its consistent expression of site and vintage.
