In the glass, Ojai Red shows a clear ruby color and an inviting bouquet of sun-ripened strawberry, cherry, black pepper, and dried herbs. The tannins are soft and discreet, making the wine immediately approachable while still offering enough structure to hold its own at the table. Production
The grapes come from multiple sites in Santa Barbara County, where coastal breezes and cool conditions encourage slow, even ripening and preserve natural acidity. Fruit is harvested at moderate ripeness to maintain freshness and juiciness, then fermented spontaneously with native yeast. The wine is matured for up to 10 months in used oak barrels, adding gentle texture and spice without masking the fruit.
