Noelia Ricci Il Sangiovese Romagna Sangiovese 2024 is a lively expression of one of Emilia-Romagna’s most historic native grapes. Made from Sangiovese grown in the Romagna area, it reflects both the character of the region’s clay-rich soils and a winemaking tradition that dates back centuries, with Sangiovese documented in Faenza as early as 1672.

Tasting Notes
This is typically a bright, ruby-red Sangiovese with a fresh, inviting profile. Expect aromas of red cherry, wild berries, violet, and a subtle earthy or herbal note, while the palate is usually medium-bodied, juicy, and lifted by lively acidity and fine tannins. The wine’s balance and freshness make it especially appealing in its youth, though the structure is usually sufficient to develop short- to medium-term in bottle. Over time, the fruit may mellow into more savoury, earthy nuances.

Production
Romagna Sangiovese comes from a broad area across 55 municipalities in the provinces of Bologna, Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini, where clay soils with magnesium and tuff help shape the grape’s character. To qualify as Romagna Sangiovese, the wine must contain at least 85% Sangiovese di Romagna, with the remainder allowed from other red grapes of Emilia-Romagna. Noelia Ricci has been producing Sangiovese on the family estate in Valle dei Rabbi since the 1970s.

Food & Serving
A natural match for classic Italian dishes such as tagliatelle al ragù, lasagna, roasted poultry, grilled pork, and aged pecorino. Serve slightly cool, around 16–18°C, and decanting is generally not necessary for a young, fresh wine like this, though a brief aeration can help open the aromas.
