Tasting Notes
This 2019 vintage shows a clear red-fruited profile with a little more intensity and structure than the 2020, giving it a firmer, more serious feel. Aromas open generously with blood orange, cinnamon, and fresh leather, layered over bright cherry and floral Nebbiolo notes. On the palate, the wine feels poised and energetic, with tannin that is present but well integrated, supporting the wine’s vibrant fruit and spice. Its balance of freshness, grip, and depth suggests very good aging potential, with the structure to evolve gracefully over time.

Production
Valferana is one of Gattinara’s prized vineyard sites, where Nebbiolo benefits from Piedmont’s cooler Alpine-influenced climate and the region’s iron-rich, volcanic-porphyry soils. These conditions help produce wines with lift, minerality, and refined structure, while the hillside exposure supports full ripening without losing freshness. The grapes are typically harvested by hand to preserve fruit quality and allow careful selection in the vineyard. Vinification follows a traditional approach aimed at drawing out Nebbiolo’s perfume, texture, and structure while maintaining precision and elegance in the finished wine.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted game, braised beef, mushroom risotto, truffle dishes, and aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to open fully.
