Description
Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated first-growth estates, and the 2021 vintage shows the class, precision, and depth that have made it a benchmark for Pauillac. Crafted from the estate’s classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it combines power with remarkable finesse and pedigree.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine is typically deep ruby in color, with a concentrated and polished appearance. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, cassis, graphite, cedar, violets, and subtle spice, unfolding beautifully with time.
On the palate, it is structured and refined, with firm but ripe tannins, vivid freshness, and a core of dark berry fruit framed by mineral and savory notes. The finish is long and elegant, suggesting excellent aging potential over several decades, with the 2021 vintage likely to reward patience.
Production
Sourced from the gravelly soils of Pauillac, the estate’s terroir provides superb drainage and ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon to thrive, while the supporting varieties add fragrance, texture, and complexity. Grapes are harvested parcel by parcel at optimum ripeness, with careful selection in both vineyard and cellar, followed by traditional Bordeaux vinification and maturation in French oak barrels to build structure, depth, and aromatic precision.
Food & Serving
This is a classic match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game, or rich dishes with truffle and mushroom accents. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic range.

Mouton Rothschild is one of the most iconic names in Bordeaux, with a long history in Pauillac and a reputation for uncompromising quality. Its wines are consistently among the most sought-after in the region and are admired for their richness, precision, and longevity.
