Morella Old Vines Primitivo 2021 is a pure expression of old-vine Primitivo from Apulia, crafted from more than 75-year-old bush vines. As part of Morella’s White Label series, it highlights the depth, concentration, and individuality that only mature vineyards can deliver, while staying true to the grape’s classic southern Italian character.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deeply colored red with impressive intensity in the glass. The nose is likely to be full and generous, with ripe dark fruit, warm spice, and the kind of layered concentration that old vines often bring. On the palate, this should be rich, supple, and characterful, with plenty of ripe plum and blackberry fruit balanced by savory depth and a rounded texture. Given its structure and concentration, it should also have solid aging potential, developing more complexity over the next several years.

Production
Made in Apulia, the wine comes from a vineyard over 75 years old, where the old bush vines naturally produce low yields of highly concentrated fruit. Morella’s philosophy is to preserve the uniqueness of these historic vines, selecting only the best and most characterful parcels for its White Label wines. Vinification is aimed at expressing the purity of Primitivo rather than masking it, resulting in a wine that is both authentic and focused.

Food & Serving
This Primitivo pairs beautifully with grilled meats, slow-cooked lamb, rich pasta dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out its fruit and structure, and consider decanting for 30–60 minutes if you want to soften the wine and open up its aromatic profile.
