Description

Montresor Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 2013 is a rich, cellar-worthy expression of one of Veneto’s most celebrated wine styles. Crafted from the classic Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella grapes, it combines power, depth, and refinement with the unmistakable character of Amarone.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep garnet to ruby hue with the concentration expected of a Riserva Amarone. The nose is generous and layered, with notes of dried cherry, plum, fig, cocoa, sweet spice, and subtle hints of tobacco and balsamic complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, with ripe dark fruit, dried fruit richness, and a long, warming finish supported by polished tannins and fresh acidity. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to evolve beautifully over many years, gaining further nuance and complexity in bottle.

Production
Produced in the Valpolicella area of Veneto, this Amarone draws on a terroir well suited to the classic local grape varieties. The wine is traditionally made from grapes selected for their concentration and then dried before vinification, a method that intensifies flavor, body, and structure. The Riserva designation suggests extended maturation, allowing the wine to gain depth and harmony before release.

Food & Serving
Serve this Amarone with rich dishes such as braised beef, game, osso buco, truffle risotto, mature hard cheeses, or slow-cooked lamb. It is best enjoyed slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and decanting for at least an hour is recommended to open up its aromas and soften the structure.

Producer
Montresor is a historic name in Verona and one of the established producers of Valpolicella wines, with a strong connection to the traditions of the region. The estate is known for producing wines that combine classic Veneto character with dependable quality, and its Amarone bottlings have long been appreciated for their richness and balance.
