Mirafiore Barolo Paiagallo 2021

Mirafiore Barolo Paiagallo is a classic expression of Barolo from one of Piedmont’s most historic estates, Casa E. di Mirafiore, founded in 1878. Made from 100% Nebbiolo, it combines deep tradition with the elegance and structure that have made Barolo one of Italy’s most celebrated wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a ruby-red color with garnet reflections, hinting at the wine’s depth and development. The nose is generous and layered, with blackberry, cherry, plum, and a lifted spice profile of cinnamon, clove, and black pepper. On the palate, it is marked by soft, almost sweet tannins wrapped around a strong core of ripe fruit. Balanced acidity brings freshness and length, carrying the aromatic impressions through a long, refined finish. With its structure and balance, this Barolo has excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over time.

Production
The grapes come from the La Villa vineyard in the Barolo commune, an area known for producing Nebbiolo with both power and finesse. After harvest, the destemmed and crushed grapes are heated to around 32–33°C, with pumping over beginning immediately to encourage extraction and structure. The wine is then matured for about 12 months in barrel, followed by a further year in 2,000–3,000 litre Allier casks.

Food & Serving
This Barolo is an excellent match for rich dishes such as braised beef, roasted lamb, game, truffle risotto, and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to fully express its aromatic complexity and structure. Decanting is recommended, especially when young, to allow the wine to open and soften in the glass.
