Description

Milan Nestarec’s TRBLMKR Bio 2021 gives Neuburger—a traditional Moravian grape increasingly replaced by easier-to-grow varieties—a leading role, with a small addition of Malvasia. Its name nods to the grape’s reputation as a “problem child” and to Nestarec’s unconventional, hands-off approach in the cellar.

Production
The certified-organic, 20–25-year-old vines grow on a gentle southeast-facing slope in Moravský Žižkov, on loess soils. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested and spend seven days macerating, mostly as intact berries. During spontaneous fermentation, the must is pressed over ten hours, then matured for almost two years in a large, used Stockinger oak cask. The wine is neither fined nor filtered.
