Maurice Gentilhomme Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge 2022 captures the essence of Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits in a style that balances depth, finesse, and approachability. Made from Pinot Noir sourced from some of the appellation’s most authentic villages, it offers a classic expression of the region with both elegance and a quiet sense of power.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, intense purple hue. The nose is fresh and expressive, opening with notes of cherry and blackcurrant, lifted by a subtle hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the wine is smooth and rounded, with silky tannins, a touch of richness, and satisfying depth. It has the balance and structure to be enjoyed now, while also having the potential to develop further complexity over the next few years.

Production
The grapes come from the classic Côte de Nuits villages of Fixin, Brochon, Premeaux-Prissey, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin, where limestone-rich soils and gently sloping vineyards contribute to the wine’s precise, authentic character. Harvesting is done by hand, and vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks with a period of cold maceration to preserve freshness and aroma. Fermentation is long and carefully managed with pigeage and remontage before the wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, including 20% new oak.

Food & Serving
A versatile Burgundy that pairs beautifully with duck, veal, mushroom dishes, and poultry with truffle. It can also be served slightly chilled alongside charcuterie or mature hard cheeses. Best served around 15-17°C, with optional decanting for about 30 minutes if you’d like the aromas to open up further.
