Mastroberardino Taurasi Stilema Riserva 2017 is a powerful yet refined expression of Aglianico, created as a modern tribute to the great Taurasi wines of the 1950s and 60s. Built from a mosaic of family vineyards in some of Taurasi’s most distinctive micro-terroirs, it combines structure, depth, and impressive drinkability with serious aging potential.

Tasting Notes
Expect a deep ruby color with garnet reflections that will slowly evolve with time. On the nose, it typically offers layers of dark cherry, plum, black cherry, and dried herbs, with subtle notes of spice, leather, tobacco, and earthy minerality. On the palate, the wine is bold and complex, with firm tannins, lively acidity, and a long, savory finish that reflects the strength of Aglianico in Taurasi. It is already compelling, but this Riserva has the structure to age gracefully for many years, gaining even more nuance, softness, and aromatic complexity over time.

Production
Stilema Taurasi Riserva is sourced from several family-owned vineyards in Pietradefusi, Montemarano, Paternopoli, and Mirabella Eclano, areas that differ in altitude, microclimate, and soil composition. This blend of micro-territories gives the wine its layered character and distinctive sense of place. The grapes are harvested from carefully selected parcels and vinified with the aim of preserving the identity of each site, before being assembled into a wine that balances concentration, elegance, and aging potential.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich, savory dishes such as braised beef, lamb, game, roasted pork, and slow-cooked ragù. It also pairs beautifully with mature cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full complexity.
