Description
Massolino Nebbiolo 2024 is a pure, elegant expression of Piedmont’s signature grape, offering the lift, fragrance, and finesse that make Nebbiolo so beloved. Produced by the historic Massolino estate, it reflects the winery’s long-standing focus on precision, tradition, and the character of its home in the Langhe.
Tasting Notes
Expect a bright, translucent ruby colour in the glass, true to the variety’s lighter-hued but deeply expressive style. Aromatically, it typically shows red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petals, violets, and a subtle hint of spice and earthy nuance.
On the palate, Nebbiolo is known for its fresh acidity, firm tannins, and graceful structure, and this vintage should follow that classic profile with red berry fruit, floral lift, and a savoury, mineral edge. While approachable in youth, it has the balance and backbone to develop additional complexity with a few years of cellaring.
Production
Sourced from Piedmont, one of Italy’s most important fine-wine regions, this wine comes from a terroir shaped by rolling hills, limestone-rich soils, and a cool continental climate that helps preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Harvesting is typically done by hand to ensure healthy fruit selection, and vinification is carried out with careful temperature control to highlight Nebbiolo’s finesse and purity rather than excessive extraction.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine that pairs beautifully with mushroom risotto, roasted poultry, veal, truffle dishes, and classic Piedmontese fare such as tajarin pasta or vitello tonnato. Serve it slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C, and consider giving it a brief decant if drinking young to help open up its aromatics and soften the tannins.
Producer
Massolino is one of the most respected family-owned estates in Piedmont, with a history dating back to 1896 in Serralunga d’Alba. The producer is closely associated with some of the region’s most distinguished vineyard sites and has earned a strong reputation for crafting wines of precision, longevity, and authentic regional character.
