Tasting Notes
Deep, dark, and densely colored in the glass, Masseto 2020 announces itself with intensity. The nose is layered with blackberries, plums, and black cherries, lifted by notes of dark cocoa, tobacco, graphite, toasted spice, fresh earth, warm balsamic tones, and a subtle flash of orange peel. On the palate, it is full-bodied and muscular yet remarkably balanced, with tightly woven, silky tannins and vibrant acidity driving the rich core of fruit. The long dry summer gave the wine concentration and depth, while the cooler nights preserved freshness and definition. The finish is long, mineral, and nuanced, with lingering spice and balsamic complexity. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and will continue to gain grace and detail over decades.

Production
Masseto 2020 comes from Tuscany, where the estate’s special site and careful parcel selection are central to its identity. The growing season saw a mild, wet winter, a cool and frosty March, a wet early summer, and then a long, dry period that concentrated the fruit before cooler nights in late August helped restore balance and complete ripening. Harvest was carried out early and quickly to preserve freshness, with Merlot picked before September 14 and Cabernet Franc just two days later. In the cellar, each parcel was vinified separately in concrete tanks with spontaneous fermentation, followed by gentle but effective extraction. Malolactic fermentation took place in new barriques, and the wine was then aged separately for 12 months before blending, returned to barriques for another year, and finished with bottle aging.

Food & Serving
Masseto 2020 is a superb match for refined dishes such as beef fillet, braised short ribs, lamb saddle, venison, or truffle risotto. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and rich mushroom-based preparations. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for 1–2 hours if opening now to help the wine fully раскрыть its aromatic depth and textured structure.
