Description

Masari Pinot Nero Costanera 2023 is a refined and expressive Italian take on one of the world’s most beloved grape varieties. Crafted in the hills of Veneto, this Pinot Nero marries juicy red fruit purity with a cool-climate elegance that’s both inviting and quietly sophisticated. It’s a poised, terroir-driven red that offers the charm of Pinot with a distinctly Italian accent.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Masari Pinot Nero Costanera 2023 shows a bright, translucent ruby color with garnet reflections at the rim. The nose is delicately perfumed, opening with wild strawberries, red cherries and raspberries, followed by hints of rose petals, dried herbs, and a subtle earthy note reminiscent of forest floor and spice. On the palate, this wine is light to medium-bodied with a fine, silky texture and vibrant acidity that keeps the fruit lifted and fresh. Flavors of crunchy red berries, pomegranate and a touch of cranberry are layered with gentle spice, tea leaf and a faint mineral edge that adds complexity. The tannins are refined and well-integrated, giving the wine a graceful structure and a clean, lingering finish. Enjoyable in its youth for its juicy, expressive fruit, it has the balance to develop additional nuance over the next 3–5 years.

Production
Masari Pinot Nero Costanera 2023 is sourced from hillside vineyards in Veneto, where cooler nights and well-draining soils help Pinot Nero maintain its aromatic finesse and natural acidity. The terroir combines mineral-rich subsoils with good sun exposure, allowing for slow, even ripening and a delicate concentration of flavor. Grapes are typically harvested by hand to ensure only healthy, perfectly ripe clusters are selected. In the cellar, the wine is vinified with a gentle approach: careful temperature-controlled fermentation to preserve aromatics, moderate maceration to extract fine tannins rather than heaviness, and subsequent maturation in a mix of stainless steel and, where used, neutral or lightly toasted oak to round the palate while keeping the focus on purity and freshness.

Food & Serving
This Pinot Nero is a versatile food wine, ideal with charcuterie, mushroom dishes, grilled poultry, roasted pork, and lighter cuts of veal or lamb. It also pairs beautifully with tomato-based pastas, herb-roasted vegetables, and soft to semi-hard cheeses such as Taleggio or young Asiago. Serve at around 14–16°C to highlight its aromatic lift and finesse. A brief decant of 20–30 minutes can help the wine open up and release its floral and red-fruited character, especially in its first few years.
